Since the mid-20th century, notably driven by the cold war, the conquest of space has progressed in leaps and bounds. On 4th October 1957, the first satellite, Sputnik 1, was sent into space. Today, the Earth is surrounded by a constellation of satellites (communication, weather, etc.), along with telescopes each more ingenious than the next.
This video presents the concepts of interplanetary travel, as well as the even more powerful telescopes of the future designed to detect exoplanets.
For more information: Discover the future space missions to search for exoplanets, such as: JWST, Roman Space Telescope, ARIEL, PLATO.
Also take a look at the missions currently in progress: TESS, K2 (or Kepler), Hubble, CHEOPS.
In the Serious Game section, observe the James Webb Space Telescope with the Sketchfab 3D model and test your knowledge with our augmented reality application.
Finally, you too can become an exoplanet hunter thanks to the participative science projects on the Zoonivers platform!
